Felix Ohswald, CEO and co-founder of the company, has stated: “Education has seen a whirlwind of change, from remote classrooms to increased academic ambitions, and we believe there is a big opportunity to transform how students learn all over the world by expanding access to quality education.”

 

After GoStudent’s founding in 2016 in Vienna, the company has expanded rapidly. Now an international resource for several countries worldwide, providing tutors to students on a 1-to-1 basis. The goal has always been to make the lives of students easier. 

 

In 2017 GoStudent gained over 100,000 users and established a homework chat app. By 2018 the user base had grown to 500,000 users with their first office opened. 2018 is also the year that video-based tutoring sessions became available. 

 

2019 marks the year GoStudent established its current business model. They expanded from their first office into a modern complex and started a paid membership system. 

 

In 2020 the company’s staff quadrupled in size and began to spread internationally. By this time, there were over 150,000 tutoring sessions scheduled every month.

 

As of 2021, the company operates in 22 countries with 22 office complexes worldwide. At this point, the company had over 1.5 million tutoring sessions every month. 

 

In 2022, only seven months after the company’s Series C, the company raised $340 million in Series D. This series pushed the valuation of GoStudent to $3 billion, strengthening the company tremendously. Now GoStudent is going strong with over 2,000 employees and over 20,000 self-employed tutors. 

 

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, many students got forced into online learning, and the world realized how effective it could be. GoStudent became an invaluable service for many who needed accessible tutoring and other educational assets. Thankfully, GoStudent is still growing strong and expanding worldwide to provide its services. 

 

The company’s focus on 1 to 1 tutoring has allowed students to receive aid for general education or a specific exam. E-learning has become an essential part of the learning experience worldwide, making resources like GoStudent just as crucial. They plan to continue growing to provide quality tutoring services to as many students as possible.
