Whenever You Need a Break, Go Out Into Nature
If you have more time, take a short trip or go on a longer vacation. It will take your mind off of what is going on in your life right now.
“Wherever you go there you are” -Jon Kabat-Zinn
Of course you will notice that your mind will wander off into thinking again at one point.
Yes. It will.
Your mind will wander off. It is it´s nature.
You will notice that all those thoughts and problems you are trying to solve each day at home are coming back to you. Even when you are far away from home.
Because wherever you go there you are.
You take everything with you, no matter where you go. All your thoughts and worries.
Every emotion, every memory. Everything will come along.
And that’s okay.
Just take your time.
Here is what you can do:
Take full deep breaths, watch each breath closely as if you were watching the waves of the sea rolling in and out.
Feel the rhythm and the movement of your breath in your body.
Notice the expanding sensation of the inhale and the relaxing sensation of the exhale.
You will feel more calm and relaxed right away – this is one form of meditation.
Your mind will calm down and the rest of your body will, too.
Try to take those breaks every single day.
Make it a habit. Maybe every day at the same time.
This sounds like a simple habit to cultivate, but believe me it’s not easy to keep doing it every day or on a regular basis.
But it’s worth the effort.
Take good care.
