Life CoachingMindWellbeingArticle

Thoughts are very powerful in so many ways. They can be the source of your happiness and overall success. Therefore, it is essential to invent ways to improve your mindset.

Neglecting to change your mindset can make you a prisoner of negativity. These detrimental patterns will ultimately hold you back.

The use of affirmations is an effective way to improve your mindset daily. What’s more, research shows strong evidence that positive quotes increase your self-esteem and feelings of self-worth.

Frankly, it’s easier to provide affirmations for others rather than ourselves. But we mustn’t forget to affirm ourselves on our way to uplifting others.

So whenever you find yourself stressed or you’re having a challenging day at work or with social obligations, take a deep breath and remind yourself of all of your positive affirmations. If you do this enough, you’ll train your brain to do this automatically on a subconscious level!

Believe in Yourself

What Are Affirmations?

What exactly is self-affirming? It refers to the diligent practice of self-empowerment and positive thinking.

The power of words is incredible. Words don’t only have the power to influence other people, words have the power to alter your own emotional state on a deep and even profound level.

Affirmations are tools such as positive thoughts and quotes purposed to fight against negative and self-sabotaging thoughts. They can either be spoken out loud to yourself or you can write them down in a journal. When these are repeated and believed by you, you can begin to make palpable changes for the better.

What Are the Benefits of Affirmations?

Thousands of people have attested to the power of affirmations and their life-changing properties. They are effective due to their ability to program your mind to believe and access the concepts and repeated statements both on command and subconsciously.

Here are some of the many benefits of using positive affirmations:

  1. They can motivate you to take action. When you act on your goals, it encourages you to follow through on them until their completion.
  2. They enable you to focus on your goals. The focus comes through constantly thinking about the objective you want to reach.
  3. Transforms your negative thoughts into positive thoughts
  4. Develop and enhance your self-esteem
  5.  Ingrain positive thoughts about yourself and others into your subconscious

How to Use Affirmations

Begin by speaking your affirmation for five minutes, silently or verbally, at least three times per day. Top: Try saying your affirmations while carrying out a mundane chore like bathing or cleaning your home.

Furthermore, you can even repeat your affirmation while you’re in a relaxed state of mind. This will act as a “suggestion” and allow you to practice self-hypnosis. You can take it a step further and write or type your affirmation, which engages your mind and body simultaneously.

Simply make the process of repeating affirmations a regular part of your routine, and you’ll most certainly receive favorable results.

Something Better is Coming

How to Create Affirmations For Yourself

It can seem a little weird or daunting at first, but writing your own affirmations doesn’t have to be tedious. Try to get to a quiet place in your home or at a coffee shop, library, etc., where you can gather your thoughts and focus. The statements you write will fortify your self-esteem, and you’ll be better at it.

Remember these key tips:

  1. Select a negative thought that you have, and write down a positive thought to neutralize it. Here’s an example: “I’m not smart.” Instead of thinking this way, write a positive quote such as “I am immensely capable of success.”
  2. Don’t make your affirmations too long; they’re easier to memorize when they’re short. Even just five or six words is sufficient. An affirmation as simple as, “I am worthy of being loved” is perfect. Your affirmation shouldn’t exceed two sentences.
  3. Always begin with “My” or “I” for your affirmations. You’re creating statements about yourself, so you should be the subject.
  4. All of your quotes should be in the present tense. Imagine that you’re experiencing the things you write now, not later. Here’s an example: ” I see my worth” is better than “I will see my worth.”
  5. Don’t try to put a deadline on your growth. You don’t need to jot down a time for your affirmation because it only adds unnecessary pressure. (“I am happy,” not “I will be happy in two months”)
  6. Write positive emotions instead of saying you’re going to stop feeling and thinking negatively. Ex: “I choose happiness today” instead of “I won’t feel sad today.”
